NCOC scale down age limit for Covid vaccine booster dose

ISLAMABAD: The NCOC has decided to lower age limit for eligibility of Covid vaccine’s booster dose to 30 years, ARY News reported on Monday.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) the facility of booster dose for 30 years age and above will be available from the 1st January.

“Eligible persons could get inoculated with the Covid vaccine of their choice,” according to the NCOC.

The National Command and Operation Centre in a session here considered the situation of coronavirus and mulled over the national vaccination strategy.

The session agreed upon strict measures for corona vaccination and reviewed fixed targets of vaccination in provinces.

The session also directed for effective measures to achieve the new targets of vaccination in provinces.

The NCOC said that 141.5 vaccines have been administered to population in the country. The vaccination of overall 27 percent population and 40 pct of vaccine eligible population has been completed.

“In last 24 hours 7,13,582 persons were administered coronavirus vaccine,” NCOC said.

The National Command and Operation Centre said that 58,000 cases of Covid-19’s Omicron variant have been reported in 95 countries of the world and Europe has become the epicenter of the new Covid variant. “Most cases of Omicron variant have been reported in Denmark and the UK,” according to the NCOC.

“India have also reported 149 cases of the Omicron variant,” NCOC stated.

The National Command and Operation Centre, which is leading Pakistan’s fight against the pandemic, has advised citizens to get vaccinated on priority for protection from the coronavirus.
