NEPRA reduces 82 paisas per unit in power tariffs

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Wednesday announced the reduction of 82 paisas per unit in electricity tariffs under monthly fuel adjustment, ARY News reported.

The reduction was made by NEPRA under the fuel adjustment for the month of May. According to Nepra, about 7.66 billion units of electricity were produced in May, out of which 34.5 per cent was generated from hydropower projects, 36.58 per cent from furnace oil, while 22.45 per cent was generator from gas.

The reduction will be implemented on the billing of next month, which will be applicable on all providers excluding K-Electric (previously KESC).

Earlier in March, the power regulator had increased the per unit price by Rs 2.24.
