ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader Syed Khursheed Shah on Thursday urged that the nation must be taken in confidence relating progress and consensuses that have been made on Dawn leaks scandal, ARY News reported.
He urged the government to make all the facts pertaining to Newsgate scandal public while talking to media outside National Assembly.
“How the issue was resolved, who was the main hurdle in forming consensus, and more importantly who was the key responsible behind the entire scandal that formed deadlock for months”, he queried while raising his concerns.
“The government must apprise the masses that how the key issue was resolved”, he urged while stressing the source who leaked the sensitive information must be disclosed.
Shah said that Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair had previously acknowledged that conversations and debates in meetings at Prime Minister House were recorded through its media centre.
Justifying his stance, he opined that Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) does not want an atmosphere of uncertainty neither the party aims to widen any kind of rift between the state institutions but it solely wants to strengthen the institutions [by clarifying any misunderstanding that exists].
“Some quarters have remained active for making the Army’s role controversial, particularly the neighbouring country India”, Shah claimed.
Taking to Panamagate scandal, he said that Qatari King’s letter was rejected by all five judges of the Supreme Court.
“Let’s wait and see the fate of Panamagate scandal investigation”, he remarked while questioning Joint Investigation Team (JIT)’s capabilities that probing the money trail and Sharif family’s offshore wealth.
It is pertinent to mention that the opposition leader yesterday had claimed that the sensitive information was leaked from the Prime Minister House in Islamabad. He had said that the government was protecting the real culprits.
