ISLAMABAD: The Interior Minister has started contacts with political leadership after the US drone strike on Friday in North Waziristan tribal region in which Taliban chief Hakimullah Mehsud was killed.
Federal Minister of Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan met with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and initiated contacts with Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan, JUI leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman the Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah to discuss the situation after the death of Pakistani Taliban leader.
The government has condemned Friday’s drone raid in North Waziristan and said that a government delegation was going for talks with Taliban and called the attack an effort to sabotage the process of talks between the government and Taliban.
The foreign ministry in Islamabad has also condemned the drone attack.
Moreover, countrywide security high alert has been declared to avoid any untoward incident.
