Health condition of former FCS chairman Nisar Morai was deteriorated on Thursday night in jail after which he was admitted at Jinnah Hospital of Karachi, sources said.

Morai has been a patient of cancer and he has been admitted at special ward-4 of the hospital for medical attendance, sources further said.

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge South had issued orders to the authorities concerned to provide all due medical facilities to under-detention Nisar Ahmed Memon alias Nisar Morai. The court had also observed that due to the nature of Morai’s illness, he could be admitted to either Jinnah or the Civil hospital.

He had been handed over to judicial custody after the expiry of his 90-day preventive detention on June 16.

Morai is said to be one of the accused in the murder case of former Pakistan Steel Mills chairman Sajjad Hussain who had been gunned down in Defence Housing Authority in 1998.

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) had granted 90 days remand of Nisar Morai to Rangers on March 16 this year for corruption and other charges against him.

On March 10 this year, law enforcers took Morai into custody as he reached Islamabad airport from abroad. He is also charged with funding gang war members in Karachi, large-scale embezzlement in public funds and other serious crimes.
