ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Sunday said strict action will be taken against users of the social media accounts involved in vilifying and ridiculing the Pakistan Army, ARY News reported.

“The cybercrime wing of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been directed to take action against the accounts involved in defaming and unduly criticising the Pakistan Army,” he said in a statement.

He said the constitution clearly mentioned that the security agencies could not be made target of criticism. Vilification of defence sector in the name of freedom of expression would not be tolerated, he added.

“To achieve malicious goals by targeting a dignified institute is a heinous crime. Hence, action would be taken against those deliberately or unintentionally involved in any such activity, even if it is a political party,” he said.

This should be note that since last few days a negative and baseless propaganda is being done on social media against the security forces.

Separately in a statement, Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Marriyum Aurangzeb has urged the social media users to refrain from negative propaganda against constitutional institutions of the state.

She said those, who were using social media for slanderous and negative propaganda against the constitutional state institutions, were warned to desist from this undesirable activity.

The minister said all the suspicious accounts, which were being used for propaganda against these entities, were under strict surveillance and action would be taken against the users of those accounts under the Cyber Crimes Law.
