KARACHI: A probe report compiled by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) East Amir Farooqi has recommended removal of Superintendent of Police (SP) Gulshan Tahir Noorani over his handling of the case of nine-year-old Nishwa.

Nishwa was paralysed after being administrated a wrong injection at Darul Sehat Hospital on April 14.

Upon completion of a probe against the SP, the DIG forwarded his findings to Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi Police Dr. Amir Sheikh. He stated Tahir Noorani acted unprofessionally and irresponsibly while handling the case.

Whatever the SP did was inappropriate and uncalled for, Farooqi concluded in his report, recommending action against the police officer.

SP Tahir Noorani was seen in a video footage purportedly threatening family to withdraw the case against the hospital administration and telling them ‘the hospital wouldn’t suffer, instead you will bear the brunt of problems…”

A video, which was acquired by ARY News, showed that Noorani was interacting with Qaiser Ali in presence of other people reportedly inside the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.

On April 14, a nine-month-old girl had paralysed allegedly after being administered ‘wrong injection’ by ‘untrained nursing staff’ at Darul Sehat Hospital situated in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area.
