No corruption is possible in dams’ fund, says retired Justice Saqib Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Former chief justice Saqib Nisar on Monday said that no corruption is possible in dams’ fund, ARY News reported.

In an informal chat with media-persons in Islamabad, the former chief justice regretted over allegations of corruption in the dam fund.

Justice (retd) Nisar said that his statement on the dam fund was presented out of the context.He said, he didn’t claim anytime, he will collect the money singlehandedly.

The objective of the launching of the dam fund was to create awareness and a movement about the water scarcity in the country.

We launched a movement by introducing the fund for construction of dams, Justice (retd) Saqib Nisar said.

“My collection target for the dam fund was 16 billion,” the former chief justice said. “The Wapda officials present in the meeting jumped with surprize over hearing the target of 16 billion rupees”, he said.

The granddaughters of present chief justice had also donated amount for construction of dams, the former chief justice said.

On a question of a journalist, seeking comments of the former chief justice regarding rejection of Nawaz Sharif’s plea of bail by the court on medical ground, Justice (retd) Saqib Nisar questioned in reply,” so his bail plea rejected?”

“I can only pray for the health of Nawaz Sharif. May Allah bless him with good health,” Justice (retd) Saqib Nisar said.
