Pakistan government gives green signal for India-Pakistan cricket series

After much initial confusion, the government said that it had provided its consent for the India-Pakistan cricket series. Earlier also the government had said that it had given its assent but PCB chairman had said that the nod hadn’t been received to host India in Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, India has not taken a decision yet on whether or not they will go ahead with the proposed bilateral cricket series. In a tweet posted late on Thursday night on his official Twitter account, Swarup said “no queries regarding cricket series. No decision has been taken on cricket series.”

The Indian media reports had cited a Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) official as saying that the government had given approval for the series, shortly after the Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif reportedly gave the nod to the PCB.

However, today PCB in its statement said it was yet to get approval from the government.

By yesterday, neither of the sides had made such statements officially. All the reports were doping the rounds citing ‘sources’.

However, Indian Express had reported yesterday that Chairman IPL Rajeev Shukla has said the Pak-India series would begin from Dec 15 in Sri Lanka.
