KARACHI: Perturbed by scheduled and unscheduled power cuts amidst rising mercury people took to roads to protest against K-Electric, the city’s chief power distributor, which continued to play hide-and-seek on the fourth day of the holy month.

Citizens in many areas of the city continued to experience prolonged power outages amid hot and humid temperature.

The residents of Metroville area stormed the power utility’s office in the locality, forcing its staff to flee, whereas people in Liaquatabad and Dawood Chowrangi areas staged protest demonstrations, blocked roads and set tyres on fire to protest against K-Electric.

Similar scenes were witnessed in Nazimabad where agitated protesters stormed the power utility’s office in the area.

The rest of the province went through similar mental and physical agonies of prolonged and unannounced load-shedding coupled with sweltering weather. Power supply companies continued to carry out load-shedding throughout Sehri, Iftari and Tarveeh prayers timings across Sindh.

Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Nawabshah, Dadu, Thatta, Sanghar and other districts of the province had to face power breakdowns due to tripping and technical faults in a fragile power transmission system.
