DUBAI: Former governor Dr. Ishratul Ibad has complained that the federal government did not inform him about the decision prior to removing him from the office of the governor of Sindh.
The former governor backing the tweet of Pakistan People’s Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto on Friday said that he was not taken into confidence before being relieved from the office. The federal government should have inform me directly instead of through the media reports, Ibad complained in a media talk.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had taken exception of the federal government’s decision of appointing governor of Sindh without consent of the provincial government. In a scathing tweet the PPP chairman accused the prime minister of trying to protect his “kingdom”.
The provincial government of Sindh has also expressed its dismay over federal government’s ‘unilateral’ of appointing governor.
Former Chief Justice Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui sworn in as the 30th Governor of Sindh on Friday (today) replacing Dr Ishratul Ibad who remained on the post for around 14 years.
Chief Justice Sindh High Court (SHC) Syed Sajjad Ali Shah administered the oath at a ceremony held at the Governor House today.
The decision to remove Dr Ibad from his position was taken during a meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and President Mamnoon Hussain in Islamabad recently after which a formal notification for Justice (retd) Siddiqui’s appointment as Governor Sindh was issued on Thursday.
