KARACHI: At least a person died and two others received injuries after a dilapidated three-story building in Site area came down on Thursday, following the heavy downpour swamping the metropolis, ARY News reported.
Rescue officials said the building which housed a factory was in run-down condition and couldn’t withstand the downpour that pounded the city intermittently since Wednesday night.
A dead body and two injured have been retrieved from under the debris as the heavy machinery was sifting through the rubble amid fears of more people trapped under it, they said.
The dead body and the injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital.
Following the incident, the police and Rangers personnel arrived at the spot along with diggers and began rescue operation, rescue officials said, adding the identities of the victims of the incident are yet to ascertained.
