The meeting of opposition parties was held today with Opposition Leader in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah in the chair.

The political parties took strong exception to the government over the tax amnesty.

The meeting asked the government to apprise “how much collection of money was made as the same scheme was introduced five times previously.”

The government on the first day of new year introduced tax amnesty scheme in the National Assembly to whiten the black money up to Rs50 million by paying a nominal one per cent tax.

The amnesty scheme introduced in this money bill would be for non-filers of income tax returns, as well as for such filers who filed the returns but underreport the income to evade taxes.
