Opposition to submit questionnaire on Panama leaks in NA

Yesterday, Information Minister Pervez Rasheed, in response to opposition’s strong protest over PM’s absence from the house, had said that the premier will attend the assembly session on Friday to present his stance on the leaks.

The opposition parties unanimously drafted a 7-point questionnaire on Panama Papers disclosures for the government to answer, which will be submitted in the House on Friday when the prime minister is also expected to show up.

The questionnaire seeks details of assets owned by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his children, purchase of apartments in Mayfair, London and the transfer of money to set up offshore firms.

The opposition also raised questions over the details of assets submitted by the PM with the election commission.

Officials sources said that the prime minister will respond to all queries pertaining to Panama Papers leaks in the House on Friday.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family are under fire after their names cropped up in Panama Papers that prompted corruption allegations against them.
