PAC demands action against Govt scholarship holders abroad, don’t return back

ISLAMABAD: The Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Wednesday decided action against students who go abroad for studies on government scholarships but don’t return back.

The PAC session was chaired by PTI’s Junaid Akbar to discuss the issue.

Audit officials in their objection said that around 1.5 billion rupees are receivable from such government scholarship beneficiaries.

Chairman PAC said that these government scholarship beneficiaries going for study but vanish there. “Instead of studies, they get jobs in abroad,” he said. He urged for punitive action against these fugitive students.

Junaid Akbar advised for publishing the names of fugitive students in media and cancellation of their passports.

He also urged for registration of FIRs against these students benefiting from government scholarships.
