PAF’s action against India to be remembered as ‘Operation Swift Retort’: Air Chief

ISLAMABAD: Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan on Wednesday said that Pakistan Air Force (PAF)’s response against Indian aggression will be remembered as ‘Operation Swift Retort’.

“February 27’s ‘Operation Swift Retort’ will always be remembered,” said the PAF air chief while addressing participants of 264th Air Staff Presentation at Air Headquarters in Islamabad.

He vowed that the PAF response will be even stronger than before in case of any genre of aggressive showed by the enemy.

Khan said that Pakistan Air Force had swiftly responded against the enemy on the day which was a demonstration of PAF’s resolve in thwarting its nefarious designs. “We are thankful to Allah Almighty to providing us opportunity to meet expectations of our nation,” he added.

The PAF chief said that the response had set a new example of giving a befitting reply to the enemy’s misadventure against Pakistan, as well as perseverance and motivation.

Khan expressed appreciation to PAF personnel for their bravery in performing duties to secure motherland.

The air chief also distributed trophies to PAF officials over best performance in various domains.

PAF shoots down two IAF jets

Two fighter jets of Indian Air Force (IAF) had been shot down by Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in bright day light on Wednesday on February 27 over violation of the Line of Control (LoC) besides arresting one of its pilots.

One IAF jet crashed inside Azad and Jammu Kashmir region while other in India occupied Kashmir.

As per the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Pakistan Air Force (PAF) had undertaken strikes across Line of Control from within Pakistani airspace.

On March 1, Pakistani officials had handed over Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot Abhinandan Varthaman to Indian counterparts at Wahga Border in a gesture of peace from Pakistan, in order to de-escalate the soaring tensions with New Delhi.
