Pak-India foreign secretary-level talks on Jan 15 delayed


According to Foreign Office spokesperson Qazi Khalilullah, new dates for the meeting between the two secretaries are being worked out.

He said the announcement in this regard will be made later.

He rejected the reports that some Daesh militants sneaked into Afghanistan from Pakistan, saying there was no veracity in such reports.

Meanwhile, India Today reported that New Delhi wants to wait and watch developments amid reported detention of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) chief Masood Azhar in Lahore.

It cited sources as saying that both India and Pakistan have mutually agreed to hold the talks later.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting with army chief and senior military and civilian officers in presence to discuss the progress of investigation into Indian airbase attack in Pathankot following leads provided by the Indian government.

The meeting was told that several Jaish-e-Muhammad activists had been rounded up in the wake of leads shared by the India with Pakistan.

JeM chief Maulana Masood Azhar was also detained for interrogation to his outfit’s alleged link with the attack.

“In the spirit of the cooperative approach, it was also decided that in order to carry the process forward, additional information would be required, for which the Government of Pakistan is considering to send a Special Investigation Team to Pathankot, in consultation with the Government of India,” a press statement issued after the meeting said.
