Pak-Iran Pipeline Project to be delayed, says Sartaj

ISLAMABAD: Advisor on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz has said that the Pak-Iran Gas Pipeline Project cannot be accomplished by December, 2013, while Pakistan will re-hold talks with Iran for the extension of the project – ARY News reports.

Talking to media here on Thursday, Sartaj Aziz said that the deal Government of Pakistan made with Iran that needs to be extended. He added that it will take time for the uplifting of all the sanctions from Iran and the accomplishment of the project till then will be helpful for Pakistan.

The Advisor told that the project needs to be dealt carefully and payment and financing are big issues, however he said that the sanctions on Iran have been relaxed and this can be fruitful.

Speaking about Pakistan’s ties with neighboring states, he stated that the relations depend upon the policies of non-interference and trade cooperation. Pakistan, instead of interfering in others affairs, tends to keep right its own affairs.

Commenting on terms with India, Sartaj said that we seek good relations with India and a breakthrough is expected in the bilateral ties after the elections there.

He further added that Pakistan’s policy on drone attacks is clear and the United Nations (UN) has also supported Pakistan’s stance openly.
