Pakistan playing vital role in fighting terrorism: Afghan envoy

QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan and Governor of the province Amamullah Yasinzai on Thursday held a meeting with Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan, Shukrullah Atif Mashal, and discussed matters of mutual interest, ARY News reported.

The dignitaries also discussed ways to improve trade ties between the two countries.

During the meeting, Governor Balochistan said long-lasting peace was inevitable for sustainable development in the province. He told the Afghan envoy that tourism would soon replace terrorism in the region.

He said eradication of poverty was only possible through economic activities.

Meanwhile, Jam Kamal Khan said TAPI gas pipeline project was equally beneficial for the neghibouring Afghanistan.

Afghan ambassador said Pakistan was playing key role against terrorism. He also thanked Pakistan authorities for hosting Afghan immigrants.

Last month, Afghanistan Ambassador Shukrullah Atif Mashal, had met Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the General Headquarters and matters of mutual interest and regional security particularly Afghanistan peace process came under discussion.

The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for ongoing Afghan peace process.

Mashal had also met Gen Bajwa at the GHQ on Jan 11. The COAS had welcomed the Afghan ambassador to Pakistan and expressed that his services will help optimize the mutually beneficial bilateral relations.
