RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Army on Sunday welcomed the foreign players and guests who have arrived for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Lahore.
Director General Inter Services Public Relation Maj. General Asif Ghafoor in a statement also wished good luck to both the playing teams.
“Sports promote peace,” said Maj. Gen Ghafoor on the micro-blogging website.
Pakistan Army along with law-enforcement agencies have made unprecedented security arrangements for the match. The five-layer security provided to both teams, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators, is equivalent to those given to heads of states.
As many as 10,000 security personnel will guard the stadium, while Pakistan Army helicopters will hover around the ground to keep aerial surveillance of the surrounding.
There are several foreign players who have arrived to participate in the match including Darren Sammy, Chris Jordan, Marlon Samuels and Dawid Malan of the Peshawar Zalmi.
Quetta Gladiators will have Anamul Haque, Sean Ervine and Elton Chigumbura, Morne Van Wyk, Rayad Emrit, while mentor Viv Richards has also arrived in Lahore.
