Pakistan cricket team fined for slow over-rate

HAMILTON: The Pakistan cricket team has been fined for slow over-rate during the second Test match against New Zealand.

Match referee Richardson found the national side five overs short of the target after taking all allowances under consideration and imposed the penalty.

Captain Azhar Ali was fined 100 percent of his match fees, while other players were fined fifty percent.

There is no need for a formal hearing as Azhar Ali accepted the sanctions by the match referee, which were laid by umpires Sundaram Ravi and Simon Fry and third umpire Ian Gould.

New Zealand beat Pakistan by 138 runs in the second Test in Hamilton to secure a clean sweep of the two Test series.

This is the second offence for Pakistan in as many matches. Captain Misbah-ul-Haq suspended for one match and fined forty percent of his match fee during the first match against New Zealand in Christchurch.

The other players were fined twenty percent of their match fee. However, Misbah had to return back to Pakistan over personal reasons but will join during the upcoming tour of Australia.
