LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday said that a national-level cricketer has tested positive for a “prohibited substance” in a test conducted during domestic cricket season, ARY News reported.

“A player has reportedly tested positive for a prohibited substance,” the cricket board’s media handle tweeted.

The short statement issued by the board says that the authority cannot yet name or take action against the player as per International Cricket Council (ICC) rules “until the chemical report is confirmed by the Anti-Dope Agency of the government”.

The statement adds that the process can take a day or two.

Sources and media reports, however, say that the cricketer is opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad.
