ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Foreign Office on Sunday has urged Myanmar authorities to investigate reports of massacre and take necessary measures to protect the rights of Rohingya Muslims, ARY News reported.

In a statement, Pakistan Foreign Office has expressed deep concerns over reports of growing number of deaths and forced displacement of Rohingya Muslims.

Calling for measures protecting the rights of ethnic Muslims minority, Pakistan has also demanded holding those responsible for massacre accountable.

“Pakistan will worth with the international community, in particular, the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) to express solidarity with the Rohingya Muslims and to work towards safeguarding their rights,” the statement added.

Reports suggest government forces in Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, have beheaded and burned alive Rohingya Muslim civilians, including children.

Myanmar’s Rakhine State, where the minority Rohingya are concentrated, has been the scene of violence by the army. Before a military siege was imposed on Rakhine late last year, extremist Buddhists carried out several attacks on the ethnic Muslims-minority.
