Rangers delegation in India for talks on border security

A 16-member delegation of Punjab Rangers crossed Wagah border for border talks with Indian border officials. These talks are held alternatively in India and Pakistan.

The delegation of Pakistan Rangers led by Punjab Rangers Director General Major General Umar Farooq Barki arrived in New Delhi for talks. Pakistani border security officials have begun meetings with their Indian counterparts in an attempt to defuse recent border tensions.

DG Rangers Maj Gen Umar Farooq Barki will hold a separate meeting with Indian Border Security Force Director General Devendra Kumar Pathak apart of delegation level talks in the visit.

Pakistan delegation is expected to raise the issue of the people stranded to other side of the border unintentionally. Artillery fire at Line of Control (LoC), cross border smuggling and border violations by the Indian side, sources said.

A routine annual meeting of border security officials has attained importance in the wake of recent ceasefire violations by the Indian forces.
