President’s XI after winning the toss elected to bat first. They got the flying start with their openers Danushka Gunathilaka and Tillakaratne Dilshan scored 48 in 7.2 overs.
Dilshan was the first batsman to be dismissed followed by Lahiru Thirimanne (0).
The back to back dismissals left President’s XI at 48-2 but they replied with three big partnerships with four of their batsmen Gunathilaka (51), Ashan Priyanjan (65), Kithuruwan Vithanage (56) and Thisara Perera (52*) raised fifties.
The combined performance allowed President’s XI to post 325 for 7 in total 50 overs.
Mohammad Hafeez took 4 wickets for 44 in his spell of 10-Over while Mohammad Talha dismissed 2.
Pakistan’s chase began with a perfect a 73-run opening stand, but President’s XI kept chipping away at the visitors and were rewarded with regular wickets, at stage visitors were 137 for 4.
Then, skipper of Pakistan, Misbah-ul-Haq along with Fawad Alam put their team back with a 68-run partnership. Thisara Perera, however, crucially dismissed both batsmen in the 38th over to slow the Pakistanis down.
Shahid Afridi accelerated with a 20-ball 37 but he was dismissed by Lahiru Garnage.
But the bad light forced a premature end to the game after 46.2 overs, with Pakistan at 290 for 8 and remained 13 runs short according to D/L.
