Pakistan, Oman agree to enhance trade, economic relations

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Oman have on Monday agreed to enhance their trade and economic relations.

The understanding came at a meeting between Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and Oman’s Foreign Minister Yousaf Bin Alawi Bin Abdullah in Islamabad .

Later addressing a joint news conference, Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said Oman is our closest maritime neighbor and China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Gwadar will provide great opportunities for greater connectivity and linkages between both the countries.

The adviser said there is a proposal to start ferry service between Karachi and Oman in order to bolster the relations.

In his remarks, the Omani foreign minister said there are opportunities for traders of both the countries to work together.

Responding to a question, the Omani foreign minister said peace and security is vital for overall development of Muslim Ummah.
