Pakistan opposes US drones deal with India: FO

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Friday opposed the proposed sale of US drone missiles system to India as the move will disturb the balance of power in the region, Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria informed media.

In his weekly press briefing, the spokesperson said that the onus is on the international community to ensure the balance of power in the region before going into any such agreement with the neighboring country.

He said Pakistan has also informed the US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson during his visit to Pakistan lately about the ongoing atrocities against Kashmiri people at the hands of the Indian army.

“Pakistan raised its concerns over ongoing violation of human rights in India held Kashmir,” Zakaria added.

He said that the top US diplomat was also told about Pakistan’s initiatives in the war against terrorism, adding that Tillerson appreciated and recognized Pakistan’s sacrifices and efforts.

Moreover, he affirmed Pakistan’s moral and diplomatic support to the people of India held Kashmir.
