ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office briefed the diplomatic corps in Islamabad about preliminary findings of its investigation with regard to the Pulwama attack.

Pakistan remains committed to taking the process of investigation into the incident to its logical conclusion, the FO said in a statement.

Consistent with its commitment to extend cooperation, Pakistan shared the findings of its investigation with India along with a set of questions and subsequently, briefed the diplomatic corps in Islamabad as well.

India had shared a dossier on February 27, 2019 in the wake of the Pulawama attack in India held Kashmir. Soon after its receipt, Pakistan constituted an investigation team, detained a number of persons for questioning and looked into the technical aspects of social media content, a main basis of Indian dossier.

The Indian paper comprised of 91 pages and 6 parts, out of which only part 2 & 3 pertained to the Pulwama incident while other parts were “generalised allegations”. Pakistan focused on the parts which related to Pulwama incident.

During the course of investigations, all aspects of the information provided by India have been thoroughly examined including the “confessional” video of Adil Dar, “claim” of responsibility for the attack, Whatsapp and Telegram numbers used to share videos and messages in support of Pulwama attack, list of 90 individuals suspected of belonging to a proscribed organisation and 22 pin locations of alleged training camps.

Service Providers were also requested for provision of data including relevant details of activities and contacts of the GSM number provided by India. A request for assistance from Whatsapp has also been made to the US government.

While 54 detained individuals were investigated, no details linking them to Pulwama were found so far. Similarly, the 22 pin locations shared by India were also examined as no such camps existed.

“Pakistan is willing to allow visits, on request, to these locations,” the statement read, saying additional information and documents from India would be essential to continue the process of investigations.

The Attorney General, Foreign and Interior Secretaries and Director General (FIA) were present during the briefing.
