Pakistan, Saudi Arabia sign seven MoUs for cooperation in different sectors

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan held a one-on-one meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman (MBS) at the Prime Minister in Islamabad, ARY News reported.

The meeting between the prime minister and the visiting dignitary took place in a cordial atmosphere.

Afterwards, the two leaders witnessed signing of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in diverse fields of cooperation between Pakistani and Saudi ministers.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his counterpart Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir signed a MoU for technical cooperation in standardisation sector while Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination Fahmida Mirza and the Saudi foreign minister inked a MoU aimed at enhancing cooperation in sports and youth affairs between the two countries

Finance Minister Asad Umar and his Saudi counterpart signed MoUs with regard to import of Saudi goods and provision of funds for development projects by the Saudi government.

Federal Minister for Petroleum Ghulam Sarwar and Saudi Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih inked MoUs for setting up an oil refinery and enhancing cooperation in the field of minerals.

A delegation-level talks between the Saudi Arabia and Pakistan formally began on Sunday evening in which both the sides discussed matters of mutual interests.

The Pakistan’s delegation was represented by Finance Minister Asad Umar. The Saudi delegation was led Saudi Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih.

Both the sides exchanged views on investments by billions of dollars to be made by Saudi Arabia. “The agreement will be formally signed when Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman reaches Pakistan.”

Asad Umar said the talks held with the Saudi delegation on ‘big investment’ to be made by the latter.
