ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Ahsan Iqbal on Tuesday said Pakistan was strongly committed to cooperate for peace and security at regional and global levels.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of 86th General Assembly of Interpol in China, he said it was because that Pakistan pursued an inclusive developmental agenda.
He said Pakistan had achieved significant success in defeating the menace of terrorism in the last four years and was willing to share its experiences with the international community.
The interior minister said the growing challenge of globalization at all levels required a collaborative approach to tackle terrorism, cybercrime, narcotics trade and human smuggling.

He said the government was committed to modernizing Pakistan’s police to meet challenges of 21st
century.
Ahsan Iqbal said Pakistan was also strongly committed to the charter of INTERPOL and looked forward to working with the international community for promoting peace and security.
He said Pakistan welcomed China’s commitment to helping boost the developing countries’ capacity in fighting crimes.
“China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will make an invaluable contribution to bringing peace and prosperity to the conflict-hit region by bringing economic opportunities,” he said.

The interior minister said Pakistan had raised a 10,000-strong special force for the protection of Chinese workers in Pakistan.
