She said the US embassy should clarify if the future policies would be established through such statements.

“We will have to see if a Trump’s tweet determines the US policy or Trump tweeted on the basis of the US policy,” she said.

The foreign secretary said Pakistan should seriously adopt stance on the US issue. It would have to keep many foreign policy issues behind the scenes, she said addign that the US was a super power of the world and was like a neibhbour to Pakistan in the region.

“We have the policy of contacts with the US in current circumstances. We want strong ties with the US. Whenever we have had meetings with the US officials they were in a very positive environment,” she said.

She said India was trying to become a big force and the US was exploiting India for creating balance in its favor in the region.

Welcoming Japanese foreign minister’s recent visit, Tehmina said Pakistan’s foreign policy’s focus should not be the US only.

“We have good ties with big powers of the region that are China and Russia. China’s rise in the region as a big power is due to regional situation,” she said.
