SYDNEY: Former Australian captain Ian Chappell has said that Pakistan should not be invited for tours in the land down under, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

The ex-captain urged Pakistan to stay home if they can’t improve their performance. He said that the Asian side’s fielding was unsatisfactory and captaincy was ineffective.

Chappell said, “Cricket Australia have got to start saying ‘listen if things don’t improve we will stop with the invites’.”

It should be noted that Pakistan suffered a 3-0 whitewash in the test series against Australia. The side also suffered a 2-0 whitewash in the test series in New Zealand.

It seems as if Chappell, while criticizing Pakistan over its performance, is forgetting Australia’s performances in Asia.

The Kangaroos suffered a 4-0 whitewash at the hands of India in 2013 and lost the test series 2-0 to Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates.

They suffered a clean sweep against Sri Lanka in 2016. They also lost the three-match test series 2-1 to South Africa on their home soil.
