DUBAI: The first Twenty20 off 2-matches series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka is scheduled tomorrow (December 11) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, a venue where Pakistan have only won one of the last six Twenty20s. Match will start at 21:00 PST.
Sri Lanka have been the top-ranked side since last year’s World Twenty20 and having a psychological fillip. On the other side, Pakistan with a victory in Cape Town against South Africa has its morale boosted.
Pakistan comprises promising youngsters, the likes of batsmen Sohaib Maqsood and Sharjeel Khan, and seam-bowlers Bilawal Bhatti and Anwar Ali, will relish the opportunity to push themselves into the side.
Sri Lanka having experienced players like Kumara Snagakarra, Lasith Malinga and Tilkaratne Dilshan in the side. Captain of Sri Lanka Dinesh Chandimal had expressed expectation from new comers including d Ramith Rambukwella and legspinner Seekkuge Prasanna to perform well.
A 0-2 loss to Sri Lanka will result in losing the top spot to Pakistan; a 1-1 result will lead to a reduction of a ranking point but Sri Lanka will stay No. 1; and a 2-0 win will bolster their position.
