Pakistan, US agree to continue cooperation in peace, security

The agreement came at the 25th meeting of Pakistan-US Defence Consultative Group in Rawalpindi today. The Pakistani side was led by Defence Secretary Lt. Gen. (retired) Zameerul Hassan, while the American delegation was headed by US Deputy Defense Secretary David Shear.

The US delegation expressed commitment to have strong and long-term defence partnership with Pakistan. The US officials acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts for ensuring maritime security in the Arabian Sea.

They observed that Pakistan Armed Forces’ actions in FATA has improved security on the Pak-Afghan border, and vowed to continue supporting Pakistan in the war on terror. They lauded Pakistan Army’s successes in Operation Zarb-e-Azb.

The Pakistani delegation reiterated the resolve to continue indiscriminate action against terrorists.
