Pakistan values its relations with European Union: Fawad

ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Fawad Hussain Chaudhary on Monday said Pakistan gave much importance to its relations with European Union.

Talking to Ambassador of European Union in Islamabad Jean-François Cautain, he said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government would move forward with the objectives of development, human rights and rule of law in the country.

Fawad said the government believed that freedom of expression was constitutional and basic right and Pakistani media had unprecedented freedom of expression in the country.

He said the government would continue provision of facilities in development of a responsible and independent media.

The minister said the government was committed to implement its reforms agenda for Naya Pakistan and promotion of tourism and eradication of corruption were the part of this agenda.

Last year in a statement, former prime minister of Slovenia, Member European Parliament (MEP), President MAC (MEPs Against Cancer) Alojz Peterle promised Pakistan to help in cancer research and treatment as much as possible.

“It (the work on cancer) will be a very huge success as cancer is on the rise in Pakistan and bringing EU and Pakistan together will open new doors of eradicating cancer form the world,” said Peterle.
