Pakistan wants to de-militarize Siachen: FO

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office (FO) has stated that Pakistan wants to de-militarise the conflicted area of Siachen, ARY News reports on Thursday.

Aizaz Chaudhry, a spokesperson of the FO, in his statement has said that Pakistan also wants to stop drone attacks. The strikes are a violation of the country’s sovereignty.

On the Kashmir situation, he said that the country is concerned about the Human Rights violation in the region. Pakistan wants to solve the issue through negotiations. The Kashmiri officials should be made a part in the negotiation process, he added.

Aizaz Cheema, another spokesman of the FO, said that the United States of America has closed the NATO supply from Torkham Border Crossing. Pakistan has to facilitate the evacuation of NATO and US forces from Afghanistan.

He further said that the Taliban officials were released to make the reconciliation process successful with Afghanistan.
