Pakistani injured count in Mina stampede mounts to 100 — daughter of missing pilgrim calls for help on social media

Tariq Fazal Chaudhry MNA has said the figure of missing Pakistani pilgrims has mounted after the number of overseas Pakistanis working in Saudi Arabia and other countries were added to the list.

Among the missing Pakistani pilgrims 49 were those who went to perform the pilgrimage under the hajj visa, 10 were overseas Pakistanis working in Saudi Arabia and 41 were Pakistani expats living in other countries.

The focal person said that 26 Pakistanis died in the stampede had been buried in Saudi Arabia as the heirs of 31 others were still being searched.

He said the families of 10 deceased hajj pilgrims have so far desired to bring back the bodies to home.

He further informed that 12 injured Pakistani pilgrims were admitted to different hospitals in Makkah and Jeddah, who are being looked after by a team of Pakistani doctors, whereas 37 others were discharged after the treatment.

He said the photographs of all deceased Pakistani pilgrims are being brought to Pakistan for identification and to trace their heirs.

Dr Tariq said the Saudi government has appointed two offcials in Jeddah and Makkah to coordinate with the Pakistani authorities and extend help in tracing out the missing Pakistanis.

Daughter of missing pilgrim takes to social media for help

Among over hundred Pakistanis missing after Mina stampede, Dr. Tabinda Tehseen is also among those disappeared after the tragedy that claimed over 1200 lives.

Her daughter, Aisha Ahmed, took to microblogging website Twitter, posted picture of her mother with necessary information and spread a message with a hope that anyone could help find whereabouts of her mother.
