Pakistani woman born in Kashmir, Farhat Asif has received N-Peace Award of the United Nations Development Program.
The award was given to her at a ceremony held in Bangkok Thailand.
Through her Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies and Centre for Women Peace and Security, Farhat ensures women’s participation in different Pakistani social, political and economic aspects.
The N-Peace awards recognize peace builders’ efforts for women at the grassroots level. Since 2010, it has been awarded annually to the peace activist who have “done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations.
This year, eleven winners under three categories were recognized from seven participating countries including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Myanmar, Nepal, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and the Philippines.
