Pakistan’s economic development in best interest of US: Ali Zaidi

ISLAMABAD: Minster for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi has said that economic development in Pakistan was in the best interest of the United States.

In an interview with American Television ABC on Friday, he said it was not just to foster growth in both the countries but also to curb extremism.

Ali Zaidi said it was a unique moment in time to capitalise on as Prime Minister Imran Khan was gaining trust globally as a credible leader.

He said Pakistan was a country where 65 percent of the population was below the age of 30. “It is a land of opportunity.”

The maritime minister said Pakistanis wanted long term peace and prosperity. He said economically, we must build this relationship based on economics. And that is going to be beneficial for both the countries, he added.

“It’s extremely exciting time in Pakistan. Pakistan can be another land of opportunity. We will build economic bridges with the rest of the world. The world needs to view Pakistan as an Economic Zone… not a Security Zone,” he said.

On February 25, Ali Zaidi had said Singapore’s investors had pledged their confidence into the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led federal government.

He was addressing a ceremony in the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Karachi.

The minister had said investors of Singapore were taking keen interest in Pakistan as the country was offering business-friendly environment in the diverse fields.
