Pakistan's economy is heading towards positive direction: Ahsan Iqbal

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said on Thursday the statistics of past eight months have witnessed that Pakistan's economy is heading towards positive direction, ARY News reported.

Addressing ‘The Leaders Summit’ on Thursday, Ahsan Iqbal said the country's economy has been growing at average of 5 or 5.5 percent which is not sufficient.

“Increase in growth rate was must for the survival of the country and if we do not grow at 7-8 percent, we will be in great trouble”, the Minister added.

He stressed the need for adopting innovative approach to pace with the development of other countries of the world.

Ahsan Iqbal said that countries like China, Malaysia and South Korea designed their decades long vision transformed them into reality, which resulted in progress and economic development of these countries.

Meanwhile,  Prime Minister's Special Envoy and President of Diplomat Business Club (International),Ambassador Javed Malik hailed governments’ strategy by saying that Trade and business diplomacy initiated by the present government would help attract foreign investment besides improving the image of the country internationally.
