ISLAMABAD: The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his children on allegations stemming from the Panama Papers has summoned former interior minister Rehman Malik, ARY News reported on Monday.

The JIT has served subpoena on the PPP senator to turn up before it tomorrow (June 13) with regard to the probe into the Panama Papers allegations. However, he has requested the JIT to reschedule his proposed appearance since he was abroad on a foreign trip and will return shortly.

Earlier on Sunday, the JIT asked the PM to appear before it on June 15 to have his statement recorded in the Panama Papers probe.  It has directed the premier to bring along all the relevant documents, records and other materials with regard to the family’s London properties.

Sources said Nawaz Sharif would provide money trail of Hudaibiya Paper Mills and London flats on Thursday.

The spokesperson of the Prime Minister House has confirmed that the prime minister has received the notice issued by the JIT to appear at 11:00am.

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said that Nawaz Sharif will appear before the JIT in the Panama Papers case.

She said that the prime minister has decided to appear before the JIT to uphold rule of law and the constitution. She said the third-time elected prime minister of the country will present himself for his accountability.
