The committee will comprise of Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Railways Minister Saad Rafique, Housing and Works Minister Akram Khan Durrani, Information Technology Minister Anusha Rehman, Ports and Shipping Minister Hasil Khan Bizenjo, Pakistan People’s Party Senator Aitzaz Ahsan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MNA Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid MNA Basheer Cheema, Jamaat-e-Islami MNA Sahibzada Tariqullah, Muttahida Qaumi Movement Senator Barrister Saif and Awami National Party Senator Ilyas Bilour.

The notification stated that any member of the parliamentary committee can be replaced by Sadiq on request of the parliamentary party’s leader.

The parliament committee will set ToRs for probing the offshore wealth, waived off bank loans and debts, commission and transfer of funds earned through corruption.

The body will also prioritize the importance of each of the above mentioned issue and has been directed to submit a report within two weeks.

The first meeting of the parliamentary committee will be held on Wednesday (tomorrow) at 04.00 pm.

It should be noted that Panama Papers had alleged that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s children Maryam Nawaz, Hassan and Hussain Nawaz had offshore wealth and companies outside the country.

The opposition parties had demanded the government to carry out a judicial inquiry of the wealth of PM’s children being kept outside the country. The prime minister had written a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJ) Anwar Zaheer Jamali for formation of a judicial commission which will probe the allegations.

The chief justice, in his response to the prime minister, told him that the probe with the government’s suggested ToRs is impossible to carry out.
