Panamagate probe: JIT summons PM’s sons for further interrogation

ISLAMABAD: The Joint Investigation Team (JIT), formed in line with Panamagate verdict by the Supreme Court to probe money trail and offshore properties of Sharif family, has once again summoned Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s sons Hussain Nawaza and Hassan Nawaz for further interrogation, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

The probing team has asked the eldest son of the premier, Hussain Nawaz, to appear before the team on June 9 (Friday), while the younger son, Hassan Nawaz, on June 10 (Saturday) amid photo leak controversy.

Last week, Hussain Nawaz had appeared before the JIT for four times in span of a week. Separately, Hassan Nawaz appeared for the first time before the probing team on May 30.

It will be Hussain’s fifth interaction with the investigation team on June 9, whereas Hassan Nawaz will appear for the second time on June 10.

It is worth mentioning here that the

premier’s son Hussain Nawaz has also submitted a petition in the Supreme Court, requesting the top court to form a commission led by either a retired or serving judge to probe the leak of his photo during a grilling session with the JIT at Federal Judicial Academy.

The petition seeks prohibition of all sort of audio and video recording by the JIT during interrogation sessions.

The premier’s son has adopted a stance that the leaked photograph was aimed at humiliating him which is sheer violation of his fundamental right to human dignity, guaranteed to him under Article 14 of the Constitution.

Earlier, Hussain Nawaz’s photo went viral on social media on Sunday. The photo that apparently dates back to May 28 shows the premier’s son Hussain Nawaz sitting on a chair before an interrogation session by the JIT. The leaked photo raised stern questions about the source behind it.
