ISLAMABAD: Mixed reactions are being surfaced on the much-awaited verdict of Supreme Court in Panamagate case, some supporting it while others saying still the final verdict has to come, ARY News reported.
WHOSE VICTORY AND WHOSE DEFEAT?
Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) leader and Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh Maula Bux Chandio while talking to ARY News’s special programme on Panamagate verdict has said that the nation still awaiting for the final verdict.
He opined that the prime minister has no ethical grounds to continue his office as out of five judges, two have disqualified him while three others were not satisfied by the evidences provided during the apex court’s proceedings.
Joining the argument, Justice (r) Wajihuddin Ahmed came up with similar consideration that Nawaz Sharif should resign on basis of the verdict announced, “another joint investigation committee has been formed to probe money laundering, property ownership in London, and investment in Qatar”, he added.
Contrary to it, the ruling party has termed the verdict as ‘victory’.
Talking to press before the court proceeding, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s Member National Assembly (MNA) Talal Chaudhry had said that the verdict would be considered in favour of the ruling party if after its announcement Nawaz Sharif remains in power.
Following announcement of verdict, the federal Minister for Planning and Development of Pakistan, Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhry, has said that it’s the defeat of opponents and declared it a victory to Nawaz Sharif.
“In a bit to steal PML-N’s mandate, opponents, without specifying any name, hurled allegations by attempting to overthrow the prime minister. They could not win by-elections and defeated in Peshawar, Gilgit-Baltistan, and in general-elections 2013”, Iqbal said.
Maryam Nawaz shared some pictures of celebrations in her tweet showing the premier receiving congratulations from senior party leaders including chief minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.

Moreover, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI)’s MNA Asad Umar has said that none of the judges were convinced with the evidences provided by Nawaz Sharif while two among them were of opinion that the premier should be disqualified.

The PPP Senator Saeed Ghani lamented that if PTI would have stayed with PPP leadership on demand of reformed judicial commission, the verdict was to come against the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
He also congratulated PTI for saving the premier.

ASIF ALI ZARDARI’S PRESSER
Joining in demand raised by Chairman PTI Imran Khan, the former president Asif Ali Zardari has also asked the prime minister Nawaz Sharif to resign on ethical ground as two among five judges have disqualified him.
He said that the situation would be different if Khan Saheb, Imran Khan, would have supported PPP in its demand for strong judicial commission.
