PCB decides to resume construction of biomechanics lab at NCA

According to Chairman PCB Shahriyar Khan, all the equipments required for establishing a biomechanics lab are available in NCA and the lab will start working within next three months.

The NCA procured bio-mechanical equipment worth Rs 44 million ($460,000) in 2007 during Nasim Ashraf tenure, and was meant to be installed by December 2008. Since then all the equipment – 18 cameras along with the other supporting apparatus and the relevant software have been unused.

Earlier, the PCB had formed a five-man committee to analyze the reported actions from domestic level.

PCB spokesman informed that they have a list of bowlers having suspected actions and also encouraged the umpires and match referees to keep a close eye on bowlers.

“If the bowlers are reported, they will go through a procedure at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), which the five-man committee will oversee before clearing them”, he added.

The panel of the committee formed includes the ICC elite panel umpire Aleem Dar, former chief selector Iqbal Qasim, NCA head coach Mohammad Akram, national spin-bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed and GM sports medicine Dr Sohail Saleem.
