Peaceful Afghanistan to ensure prosperity in Pakistan: Gen Hayat

LONDON: Peaceful Afghanistan is in the best interest of Pakistan, said Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen Zubair Mahmood Hayat while speaking at an event in London, ARY News reported.

Gen Hayat was the special guest at an event organized by the World Congress of Overseas Pakistanis in London to discuss ties between Britain and Pakistan and US policy on Afghanistan and South Asia.

Addressing the participants, he said strong Afghanistan will pave way for prosperity in Pakistan. Pakistan has fought the biggest war against terrorism and its army defeated terrorism with the help of civilians, he added.

Gen said India was resorting to frequent ceasefire violations along the Line of Control, dividing the Himalayan region of Kashmir, to deflect world attention from atrocities being committed by it against Kashmiris.

Commenting on the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he said the project will change the history of Pakistan.

While addressing the Defence Day ceremony in General Headquarters on Sept 06, the Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa had said “despite rendering great sacrifices, we are being told that we are not doing enough to eradicate terrorism.

He added that Pakistan has paid in blood for every inch secured in this war on terror and “now I say the world must do more”.

The COAS was of the view that Pakistan has set an example for all those countries who are fighting terror.

He repeated the resolve to take this war to logical conclusion but warned the world powers that if they can’t appreciate Pakistan’s success in war on terror they should not blame Pakistan for their failures.

Bajwa reminded the nation and the world that Pakistan is aware of all the conspiracies against the country and CPEC and its soldiers are ready to sacrifice their lives for the people of Balochistan like people of Balochistan did for Pakistan.
