Petition seeking Gulalai's disqualification from NA filed in SC

LAHORE: A petition seeking disqualification of Member National Assembly (MNA) Ayesha Gulalai under Article 62 and 63 has been filed here at Supreme Court (SC)’s registry.

The petition was filed by a local citizen, Mehmood Akhtar, in the Supreme Court’s Lahore registry which states that Gulalai has levelled scathing allegations against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan by making derogatory remarks against him without providing evidences to corroborate her accusations.

The petitioner has pleaded for Gulalai’s permanent disqualification from the National Assembly for levelling false accusations against the PTI chief under Article 62 and 63 of the constitution.

It merits to mention here that Ayesha Gulalai Wazir, the Member National Assembly (MNA) who announced to leave Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), in a press conference on Tuesday accused party chairman Imran Khan and his cronies of sending indecent text messages to female members.

Gulalai also categorically rejected the PTI claims that she demanded party ticket to contest elections from NA-1, and said that there are several other reasons which led to the decision to leave PTI, one of which was indecent messages from Imran Khan and his cronies.

In an exclusive interview with Kashif Abbasi on ARY News TV, Gulalai said the media reports with regard to her marriage proposal to Imran Khan are untrue. “Can I offer him marriage? he is years older than me, I condemn this allegation and want to know what is the source or proof of this news?” asked Gulalai while talking to Kashif Abbasi.
