KARACHI: A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan seeking his removal as interior minister, ARY News reported.

According to the petitioner, the report of the Quetta attack judicial commission has proved that Chaudhry Nisar did not implement the National Action Plan in its true spirit due to which crisis in the country intensified instead of going down.

The petitioner went on to state that Chaudhry Nisar is directly to be blamed for the failure of the Interior Ministry in dealing with the situation as he has links with banned organizations whereas he has confessed in his press conferences that he had met the leaders of the outlawed groups.

The petition also said that the interior minister criticized the judiciary on the report of the Quetta commission which comes under contempt of court.

The petitioner pleaded the court to remove Nisar as minister in the light of the commission’s report for not implementing the National Action Plan (NAP). He also asked the court to take contempt of court action against the incumbent minister over scandalizing the judiciary.

The judicial commission headed by Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, probing the suicide attack in Quetta’s Civil Hospital which claimed at least 70 lives, in its recently issued report has criticized the role of the Ministry of Interior by saying that the ministry is working without clear leadership and direction and was unclear over the anti-terrorism campaign.

The commission regretted that Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had on Oct 21 met Maulana Mohammad Ahmed Ludhianvi, the head of three banned organisations — Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan, Millat-i-Islamia and Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat — to listen to his demands and conceded to them as per the media reports.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, reacting to the report, has called the inquiry report on the incident as one-sided and without the point of view of the interior ministry.
