PFA disposes of 4,915 litres adulterated milk in Punjab

LAHORE: Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Saturday deposed of 4,915 litres adulterated milk in Punjab, ARY News reported.

PFA director general said that the safety teams held screening tests on the entry and exist points of different cities in Punjab. He said that the PFA teams screened total 28,5029 litres milk during the province-wide crackdown against the adulterated milk.

The PFA director general said that they checked 1,017 vehicles in Lahore, 632 in Rawalpindi and 364 in the south Punjab.

He  said that 4,915 litres milk was disposed of as it found mixing urea, formalin and other unhygienic chemicals to increase the density of milk.

Earlier, the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) in a province-wide crackdown on sale of adulterated milk had discarded a total of 4,915 liters tainted milk on January 13.

As per details, the quality of 1, 88,961 liters milk being transported on 1,544 vehicles was tested across the province. The milk samples for tests were taken from 769 vehicles in Lahore, 414 in Rawalpindi, 273 in Multan, and 88 in Muzaffargarh.

An official of PFA had said adulterated milk causes various diseases, adding that sale of open milk would be completely banned across the province by 2022 as only hygienic and packaged milk would be available in markets.
