PIA CEO meets PM, mulls steps to further shrink airline’s losses

ISLAMABAD: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) Air Marshal (retd) Arshad Mehmood Malik called on Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday, ARY News reported.

During the meeting, Malik briefed PM Khan about the matters related to the national flag carrier.


Suggestions pertaining to the development of PIA, along with steps to improve its services were also discussed between the premier and the PIA head.

The prime minister expressed satisfaction over the measures taken by the national airline lately and mulled over the strategy to shrink the losses incurred by PIA.

It is worth mentioning that a day earlier, American authorities green- lighted Pakistan International Airlines for the direct flight operations to the United States, as per sources.

The development came on the heels of a meeting of the Consul General of the United States of America JoAnne Wagner on Wednesday with the PIA CEO Arshad Malik, here at the PIA headquarters.

Sources privy to the development said, the PIA has started its preparations for the direct flight operations to the US.

The national flag carrier had shut its direct flight operations to the US owing to financial losses of the organization.
